Discovering Our Independence
An NM Spirit Learning Initiative
Discovering Our Independence, An NM Spirit Learning Initiative invites schools, educators, families, and community groups to explore New Mexico’s role in the American story. Each academic quarter centers on a unique theme, connecting lessons of independence, culture, storytelling, and geography to our shared history and sense of place. Designed for classroom, homeschool, and community learning environments alike, the toolkits offer adaptable activities organized by grade band, plus an All-School option to unite entire learning communities. Each toolkit includes teacher guides, student worksheets, and planning checklists that make it easy to engage learners of all ages in meaningful, hands-on exploration.
